“Why does he get the promotion? I’ve been here longer and I work so hard. It should have been me.”
“How come she’s the one who gets married? She’s younger than I am! It should have been me.”
“Why does this lazy guy have it easy while I work hard for my money? I’m the good person. It should have been me.”
Sound familiar? Maybe you haven’t uttered the exact words. But c’mon, let’s be real here. How many times have we complained about our situation and compared it to other people’s seemingly “happy” lives? Life isn’t fair. That’s the truth. However, let me present to you another “should have been.” Here’s an excerpt from the song Should’ve Been Me by Citizen Way
Should’ve been me
Should’ve been us
Should’ve been hanging on the cross
All of this shame
All of these scars
Should’ve been stains That were never washed…
The greatest unfair reality is that it should have been us on the Cross.
“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” –Romans 5:7-8
