You waited a long time for this. God waited even longer—before the foundation of the world He planned this, He knew who your spouse would be. He planned, but He couldn’t reveal it to you, coz we would always act impetuously, otherwise. We would be imprudent; we would act before we should. So God, like to Abraham, sometimes hide best promises from us. So that we would depend on Him, and trust Him, and then allow Him to get us ready in character, disposition. Our heart, the depth of our life, our personality all have to blossom outside of what we are now today…

While this is said during a wedding, this post isn’t about relationships. I believe we can all learn something from this, and apply it in every area of our lives. A lot of times we wait, and play like we don’t know what’s at stake. I like that Pastor Wayne pointed out how God hides his BEST promises from us, for our own good. Not only that, but how God Himself is waiting to give us those promises.

I remember when my parents bought me the coolest phone during my high school days, a Nokia 8210 haha! My mother was so giddy and couldn’t wait to give it to me coz she knew how excited and happy I would be! Can you just picture our Father so excited to give us the Best in our careers, in our relationships, in our finances, in EVERYTHING!?! He has been waiting even before we were born, and just as Pastor Wayne says, even before the foundation of the world. He hides those promises from us until the right time because we are PERFECT SINNERS perfectly capable of messing things up! Next time you get impatient, remember that! Trust His timing. He KNOWS what He’s doing!

We can trust Him as we wait because His plans are to prosper and not to harm us, to give us hope, and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). We can trust Him as we wait because His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways aren’t our ways (Isaiah 55:8). We can trust Him because as we wait, He renews our strength, allowing us to soar, run, and walk (Isaiah 40:31)!

The BEST for us– that’s what’s at stake when we wait. Not only that, but we wait WITH and ON the Lord. Because of that, we come out as winners when we play the waiting game. 🙂
