Take a Chill Pill

Take a Chill Pill

When I was in college, I had a grand plan of how my life would turn out. I somehow thought that if I just did things right, I would become the “ultimate woman” by the time I turned 25. I am now 27, and I am sure I am far from the “ultimate woman” I thought I would become. I don’t even know what my own qualifications entailed. Haha!

You see, I became a Christian when I was 18, and one of the things I have learned is that He is in charge. No matter how profound our dreams, plans, and aspirations are, He calls the shots. Does it get frustrating? Of course! It’s annoying when you’re not in control, right? We want things our way, according to our own terms, and timeline. But God, in His sovereignty and wisdom,  knows that our brilliant ideas, regardless of how smart we are, just aren’t as good as His! Don’t get me wrong, we do have roles to play, and one major thing is obedience. However, at the end of the day, He is the author, and the finisher of whatever work He has started in us. It’s hard to yield at times, especially when we think we know better. But, the beautiful thing about it is that, He does the work! We simply need to yield and abide. He does the heart change, and the perspective change. Can we do that on our own? Of course not! Only God can do that, and He doesn’t need our help. He just wants our surrender.

I know there will be times when we look at our lives and say, “Gosh, I am nowhere near where I want to be.” But let me submit this thought to you to add to that statement: You are also nowhere near where you once were, and God has you exactly where He wants you right now. Enjoy the “now”, as much as you look forward to reaching where you’re headed. There’s so much treasure right in front of you! When it gets challenging, trust the One Who is in charge of the work. Obey. Yield. Take a chill pill.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 1:6

  1. y?we thought the same.,hehe.,yes you’re right po. sometimes i think I am going nowhere and heading the wrong way, but as time goes by, I learned to WAIT for I know HE IS WORKING on something for me.,like what i always said to HIM.,”OH IKAW NA BAHALA HA, ALAM KO NAMAN ‘DI MO AKO PABABAYAAN”..,but if i will not be able to reach where i wanted to go, i know HE knows that what i whant is not good for me.,Slamat for another “AWAKENING” to those who think na HE is not with them..

  2. sonj! haha, love this entry 🙂 it’s almost as if i could hear myself saying the very words in that “ultimate woman” part! but indeed, His thoughts are always higher than our thoughts. i think you would agree that there are wonderful things we are experiencing now that we never even thought about 10 years ago – all because we allowed Jesus to work in our lives. gujab! *chill*

  3. I wrote about living in the “present” earlier but I haven’t typed it yet. I hope you can also check it out if you have time. Anyway, I’m always looking forward to your new posts 🙂 Godbless you in your career and keep on growing your faith =)
